The beauty of this theory is that if you look this spiral from above, it matches what we have been taught on school. But I think they teach it this way because, trying to explain a 3D spiral like this to a 9year old is more confusing than educative. This is also the reason why Haramein compares it to thinking that the earth is flat.

it is true that the solar system is part of a spiral arm of our galaxy, and as such is moving in the described fashion. however, there is no real information communicated in our past spiral trajectory, anymore than there is from where i walked across the room, in terms of my ancestry or of the past of the entirety of the human race. it is common for people to try to attach nonsense to a kernel of truth. people have used this ruse for years.
