I am having trouble setting my longitude in my meade etx 125 telescope, can anyone help?

Good day anybody, as described in my question i am trying to set my latitude and longitude. the latitude part was straightforward. however i have hit a snag setting my longitude.

i understand that the longitude of where i live (turriff, aberdeenshire, scotland) is -2.46853′w (according to google maps)

however, in my telescopes site section "edit", the longitude appears thus:

000′00 west (you are obviously required to replace the zeros with your longitude)

there does not appear to be a space to type in a minus at the beginning

what should i do!? i am well and truly stumped and flumoxed as to what i should be typing in the ingoramous that i am!!

Any help by any one with a better understanding of what i should be doing would be appreciated so i can finally get to use my telescope in autostar mode and points will head swiflty your way.
Thanks for your responses so far, i’ll get back to you about how i get on.
hiya, telescope batteries ran out! replaced them so am waiting for a clear night to go out again

They probably use the convention that East is positive and West is negative, so for your position just enter a west longitude, forget about the minus sign.

Later…

Just checked another source and your longitude is 2deg27min West. Don’t know why Google maps would show the minus.

Try entering 002.27W and let us know how you get on.

Try using 357.54W or if it will let you 2.46E

The "w" and the "-" mean the same thing: you are west of Greenwich. Enter 002°47′ west.
