–$195 free shipping (in the continental U.S.) for the Motor Head, #494 Controller, Tripod, AND L-BRACKET!!

Email Bill to make arrangements for INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: scopehed@frontiernet.net (Please let him know that MILAPSE sent you):

I’ll get the bracket design up soon… It’s quite simple though! Here are the measurements: 3.5″ x 9.5″ x 1/8″ aluminum plate, 90 degree bend at about 3.5″, the hole pattern is 4 X 1-1/16″ O.C. (3/16″ dia). The 1/4″ holes to receive the camera mount depends on the camera tripod grommet position. If you had the plate bent you could tap the holes with a home shop drill. If you take the head and your camera to a metal shop it should only take them 5-10 minutes to fabricate something.

If you want to learn more about the controllers here are the manuals:

how to get a better view with meade telescope model# 50az-p?

Posted by admin on March 28th, 2010 and filed under meade telescopes | 3 Comments »

we cant get a good veiw on the telescope and we were really excited to get this for the family but there;s no good veiw. the most we see is the moon and still thats just a huge ball.

Its a 50mm telescope – you’re not going to see much.

Its possible you don’t have the telescope set up properly…. They usually ship these kind of scopes with 3 eyepieces, a barlow lens, and a diagonal.

Throw the barlow and the 2 eyepieces with the lowest sizes (in mm) away. They should have given you an eyepiece in the range of 20-25mm – use that one and the star diagonal… and if you can find a ‘real’ eyepiece in the range of 25 mm (like a Plossl) for $15 bucks, pick it up and throw away the eyepiece that came with the scope.

Sorry to be so brutally honest, but I personally find these scopes a scam. For the same price, you can pick up a dobsonian telescope in the range of 8 inches, rather than 50mm (2 inches)!!
