Mars Moon And Sky Map Types

Posted by admin on September 30th, 2009 and filed under skymap | 1 Comment »

We recently released various out-of-this-world map tiles in the Google
Maps API: Mars, Moon, and Sky. The engineer responsible for them, Noel
Gorelick, talks about where the imagery came from, how to use them,
how to work with the coordinate conversions, and alternate projections
in maps.

Posted by admin on September 30th, 2009 and filed under astrophotography | 25 Comments »

This is an arrangement of a bunch of my astrophotographs. They were all taken from 2005 up until early 2007. About half of these images were taken with a Dobsonian mount whereas the other half were taken with an EQ6 mount.

These images and more can be found at my deviantART page:

The music is Moonlight Sonata.

Enjoy! If you have questions, feel free to ask :)

This is part 1 of a 5 part episode. To watch the full show go to my channel (Zuke696) then go to my Playlist, find the show then click Play All – Our sun is one of billions of stars in the Milky Way Galaxy, and our galaxy is one of hundreds of billions, maybe a trillion in the known universe. From the Hubble Space Telescope comes a view of the universe that was. A magnificent trip through the mists of history and back nearly all the way to the Big Bang. Each smudge, each clump, each blob of light, a billion stars here, a trillion stars there. If you want to know our place in the universe, take a look up and far, far away to the realm of alien galaxies.

Um Slide Show em homenagem a Vincent van Gogh e Don McLean. (legendas em português)

Vincent – Don McLean

Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer’s day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land

Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen they did not know how
Perhaps they’ll listen now

Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflecting Vincent’s eyes of China blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist’s loving hand

Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen they did not know how
Perhaps they’ll listen now

For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left in sight
On that starry, starry night
You took your life as lovers often do
But I could have told you Vincent
This world was never meant for one as
beautiful as you

Starry, starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls
Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can’t forget
Like the strangers that you’ve met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
A silver thorn on a bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow

Now I think I know
What you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen they’re not listening still
Perhaps they never will
